Elder Holland, Eating Chicken Blood, A Kiss From A 5 Year Old Girl!

This week we had the amazing privilege of listening to Elder Holland and his wife in a devotional. One thing that he said that really stuck with me is the power of a desire. Because of our agency, even "God in his throne, cant convince us to accept his amazing good news of a Savior". God is always going to be there for us, but if we don't want him we wont recognize his hand.

Fun moment of the week: On Sunday I ate the oddest food. The meat looked like some kind of a liver, but nooo haha it was something worse. So of course I asked the hermana what the name of the plate was. She responded with "Buenas Hermanas" and that is when I knew that it was nothing good. haha it was purely the blood of a chicken. JUST BLOOD with extra seasoning. haha wow. And I ate every bit.

Cute moment: So just a couple hours we were shopping and this cute little girl who was 5 years old came up to me and started blowing bubbles. We spent a good ten minutes taking turns blowing them, until her and her family left. But after 5 minutes she came running back. I leaned down expecting her to tell me a secret, but she gave me a kiss on the cheek and went running back to her parents! Soooo cute.

I hope you all have a great week,
Thank you all for your support.

Small Miracles

This week I really tried to focus on what I could control, rather on what I couldn't. And let me tell you, the change I noticed was just incredible. When we are grateful for what we have, the Lord can bless us with a different perspective. He can see our eternal potential, but sometimes we are limited to only seeing what is in front of us.

Sooo, that being said I was able to recognize some of the small miracles that the Lord has given me. On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to lead a family home evening lesson and GUESS WHAT! I did it all in spanish, and the spirit was sooo strong. In that moment, I was like woah, 12 weeks ago when I arrived in Peru I could not understand a native to save my life and now look! I now that is only through the Lord that I can understand and teach as much as I do.

And....... PIERO VILLANUEVA got baptized last Saturday! The service was amazing. And immediately after stepping out of the water, he had the biggest smile on his face. Another small miracle that I was privileged to take part in was a phone call! Piero villanuevas mom called us ( she is not a member) and thanked us for the time we had spent with Piero. She told us that he was noticeably more happy. Woah. It is so amazing to see that the gospel can change a person in a matter of months.

Here is one of my favorite scriptures that I read this week!
Moroni 8:2 "My beloved (daughter- son), ( your name) I rejoice exceedingly that your Lord Jesus Christ hath been mindful of you, and hath called you to his ministry and to his holy work. I am mindful of you always in  my prayers, continually praying unto God, the Father in the name of his Holy child, Jesus, that he through his infinite goodness and grace will keep YOU through the endurance of faith on his name to the end."

I love this. Each of us are called to his work, and if we are willing, we can be instruments in the hands of the Savior.

Please trust in him, whose hands created the earth and whose breath created man. Trust in your Savior, Jesus Christ, that through his grace and mercy that through him all things can be made possible.

Don't forget to read your scriptures! I promise you that the Book of Mormon is so powerful, and if you read it, you will gain a testimony of this church. That the church of jesus christ of latter day saints is the only true church today.

Two Things To Help Build Your Testimony

Buenas Tardes!

These past two weeks have def. been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Our friend Jose Enrique who had a baptism date called us last week and oddly just wanted to talk to me. In that phone call he asked me if I could be his girlfriend and haha yeah that is where it kind of went downhill. After I told him no, he then proceeded to tell me that he would follow through with his baptism date if I changed my answer haha and for a hot minute I thought about it. But my final answer was no and with that he ended the call.

But yeah, these past two weeks I have felt useless. Sometimes it felt like I put in my all, only to receive exhaustion and frustration as my reward. During the lessons I can teach to a point, but there are times where I get lost in the conversation and look to my companion in pure panic when it is my turn for ping pong. Haha and in this process I have felt like I have become the person who does absolutely nothing in group projects. And I feel terrible because you can tell how much these people respect the missionaries and how willing they are to listen to us. And even with this tag, I have felt like I still can't be who I would like.

However, last Friday we had the opportunity to go to the temple and it was such a nice break from the missionary work and from the feelings of insufficiency. I don't know why, but every time you can enter into the house of the Lord, there is a feeling of peace almost like it could be your home. This feeling AHHH is a gift we all have if we choose to accept the gospel I know that the temple really can bring so many blessings - which may be small - but could be perfect for what you need!

Another highlight of this week is the upcoming baptism of our amigo, Piero! He accepted a baptism date for the 18th of January. He is a little bit nervous, but he told us that he feels happy with this decision to move forward with the gospel.

One more thing!! Please do not forget to read the Book of Mormon and to pray daily. I KNOW THAT THESE TWO THINGS CAN HELP BUILD YOUR TESTIMONY. Yes, you probably have heard them your whole life, but when you can start to apply the small things you can not help but grow your testimony. I know the book of mormon is true and it truly has the power to change your life if you allow it to do so. The Lord already has given us so many blessings, all we need to do is look for them.
