Last week you probably received an email from me, and y'all were probably really excited to look at those pictures. The next thing you could have done is click on it. Within the next 5 seconds, your expectations of my emails might have been lowered as there was no content. Haha I wish I could say there was a lesson in this, but I just forgot to write something. :))
Sooo now let's get down to business. I only skipped two weeks and A LOT has happened. Transfers are coming up tomorrow and I'm going to have to say goodbye to one of my best friends. So pretty sad, but also excited to welcome my new companion sis. Marks. She previously served in Chile for a couple weeks, and now she's here!
Last Saturday, we also got to film our first member video. Dayanara Lopez, a young woman in our ward who was so willing to try it out! Since most of our finding now is done online, we are focusing on the members. Soo to make these videos nice and fancy our mission has bought professional video equipment. It's actually pretty fun, makes me realize that I actually do have stage fright. Haha. There's just something about the camera that makes me lose all fluency. Every. Single. Time. But don't worry, Dayanara killed it. She shared her testimony without any hesitation. It honestly made me think what I could have done better regarding missionary work when I was her age.
Speaking of which, I think a lot of missionary work is done through discernment. At first, I thought that it meant to know where the line should be drawn, but I was surprised to find out it meant something much deeper. Having this gift is being able to perceive true character of others. Though this gift is focused on others, developing it really doesn't start with looking out, but in. As we strive to build our personal character, we will confront our shortcomings with the atonement of Christ. And as we become familiar with his love for ourselves we will then and only then be able to see others through His eyes.
